walk in the foothills
In the historic town of Yucay, in Urubamba, 45 minutes from the city of Cuzco, between Pisac and Ollantaytambo, you will find the Posada del Inca hotel. This is where we stayed for 2 nights and used as a jumping off point to go sightseeing. The hotel was originally a small monastery founded by the monks of the Santa Catalina de Sena Order back in 1678. The hotel is right in front of the foothills and in the town of Yucay. We went on a hike in the foothills behind the hotel where the farmers were tending their fields. Below are some of those pictures.
Below, the trail we took into the foothills was also occupied by a local farmer coming down with her harvest, two cattle, and a dog. Double click for a larger view.

Below two pictures. Along the trail was an irrigation canal, with various make shift and fancy bridges crossing the small canal and connecting the trail to home and or farm tracks. Double click for a larger view.
